Skiing in Stryn, in June

A technology-oriented Stockholm based company with 20 consultants asked us for a meeting in June. Nothing wrong with that. The odd thing was that one half of the group wanted to ski and the other didn’t.

To most people this certainly sounds like an impossible combination, but for us the choice of destination was easy; Stryn in Western Norway. Flights from Oslo to Sandane and airport transfer by RIB boat. The skiing season on top of the glacier usually starts on 1st of June, because it snows too much in the winter to keep open. Down in the valley at the unnecessarily beautiful Hjelle Hotel, the summer was already in full bloom.

We divided the group into two and those who wanted to ski the snow had their share of fun. Those who thought the winter was over, took the boat out on the lake to catch tonight’s dinner.  Luckily the eminent chef at the hotel had prepared a barbecue buffet, because the mediocre catch was hardly enough for the hungry crowd. The following days we tried different summer activities. The hike to the seductively beautiful Flofjället became a hit as well as the beach volleyball match by the lake.

Meetings and activities in a good mix and we also had time for an evening at the legendary pub Eine Tappen on Folven Camping. Local farmers and skiers socialize while the sun doesn’t really want to go down.

Facts

Stryn prides itself not only with Europe’s best summer skiing. Virtually all types of summer activities are just around the corner. Moreover, we know where the good food is served.
